Mr.Balashanmugham, the Founder of Viewpoints club is the son of the illustrious Kalaimaamani Dr.G.Umapathy.

Following in his father’s footsteps, at young age he delved into entrepreneurship and started a well-known Packaging Industry – M/s Uma Packages in 1982 and later diversified into Offset Printing – M/s Uma Offset Printers.

He was one of the first to start a Desk Top Publishing (DTP) unit in Chennai using Apple Macintosh systems in 1986.

With over 40 years of experience in printing & packaging line, he has developed good knowledge on printing nuances like type setting, printing layouts, colour corrections etc. He had also received international appreciation for his carton box designs.

In early 90’s he had setup a computer system integration and servicing company in the name of M/s Anand InfoZone Pvt. Ltd.

With varied interests in subjects such as Scientific History, Tamil language, Psychology, Culture & Civilisation, he believes in bringing like-minded people together by way of small get-together and fellowships to share interesting ideas and insights. This method of learning by sharing had inspired him to create the club ‘Viewpoints Club’.

His other notable accomplishments include spearheading a club for old Tamil song singers for non professionals under the name of ‘NTSSG’ and later ‘OSAI’ with monthly meetings consistently held over the past 12 years and the group has diversified into 2 chapters in Chennai.

Through social service organisations like Round Table & Rotary Club he has been a part of several social service initiatives for over 30 years.

With an eye for perfection, he has a systematic approach to practical problems. Perseverance to find solutions are imbibed in him.

He is keen on learning latest scientific know-how and eager to share his experience and knowledge however small it may be!

His interest lies not only in exploring technology but also in understanding the core of it and also dabbles with them. He enjoys giving new life to various mechanical and electrical machines and servicing electronic gadgets.

Photography had been his hobby from childhood days and he knows the intricacies of lighting and the composition of the subject in respect to the camera lens to achieve realistic & interesting photos.

He is an active Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) with call sign VU3UBS and is active in HF & VHF Radio Bands.

In his spare time, he likes to watch Hollywood Action Movies.
